Help Us Rebuild — From Survival to Sacred Sanctuary
My name is Diane Clair. I am a mother, daughter, and sacred space holder — navigating one of the hardest seasons of my life.
I live on my 5 acre piece of land with my mom, daughter, and our beloved pets. But after months of holding it all together, we are in deep need. Like so many women in South Africa, I have reached the edge of survival. I’m sharing this now with deep humility and an open heart, we are rebuilding — not just a home, but a sanctuary for women and children in need.
But first, we need water.
We need food.
We need safety.
Why We Need Your Help
Right now, we are raising funds to:
- Install a borehole for clean, running water
- Fix plumbing in our small home
- Cover basic living expenses and debts
- Welcome a family of 5 who urgently need shelter
We will be launching a BackaBuddy campaign shortly to help us stabilize this foundation.
With water flowing, I can start a sustainable food garden, open space for a second family, and begin the slow transformation of this land into a nurturing, sacred refuge for women and children in South Africa.
The Vision: The Squirrel’s Nest
I dream of creating The Squirrel’s Nest — a safe, sacred haven on our land for struggling single mothers and women who have nowhere else to go. Imagine:
- A place to pitch a tent, park a caravan, or begin building a tiny home.
- A community of shared gardens, water access, repurposed resources, and heart-centered healing.
- A trauma-informed space for women to land gently, rebuild slowly, and rise powerfully.
We’re not there yet. But with the right support, we could start laying the foundation. I will go to the Municipality for official approval. I will propose this vision. But first, I need to prove that the community is behind this — that humanity is ready to be different.
Once we are stable, we will:
- Register Squirrels Nest as a Non-Profit Organisation
- Create a no-kill, eco-conscious environment
- Build off-grid infrastructure
- Offer temporary refuge to women in need
- Establish a community food garden
- Offer gentle healing and spiritual reconnection through the land
